Important Terms

1 Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is a type of motor controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the electric motor. Other names for a VFD are variable speed drive, adjustable speed drive, adjustable frequency drive, microdrive and inverter.

2 Water treatment is any process that improves the quality of water to make it more acceptable for a specific use such as drinking water. Water treatment removes contaminants and undesirable components, or reduces their concentration so that water becomes fit for its desired end-use.

3 Wastewater treatment is the process used to remove contaminants from wastewater or sewage and convert it into an effluent that can be returned to the water cycle with minimum impact on the environment, or directly reused.
