Coolest Animatronic Dinosaurs

star_borderFollow article

We're talking real-life Jurassic World stuff here. You know they are not real, but they're still pretty terrifying! With or without animatronics...

Even with the enormous, and visible, stand, this massive T-Rex is crazy impressive!

It's hardly surprising that we (humans) have such a huge fascination with dinosaurs. Their pre-historic existence puts our current human existence into perspective. Find out how 3D printing, vacuum chambers, industrial robotic arms, and precise mechatronics are painstakingly combined to create these realistic monster machines.

Just for fun, I saw this video recently on Twitter and thought it was my favourite dinosaur prank ever...

Until I saw this one!

Both prank videos clearly rely on human bodies to enable the dinos to move quickly and make it off a plinth or stand; most animatronic dinosaurs are able to move on the spot but are restricted to a programmed and pre-defined set of movements.

For a less terrifying dinosaur encounter, you can get up close and personal with Shadow and Shelia, the playful resident baby T-Rex’s at Blackgang Chine theme park on the Isle of Wight (UK). Blackgang's Restricted Area 5 featured in episode 2 of The Engineering Edge – DesignSpark's new podcast exploring how different organisations are using everyday tech to give themselves an edge.

This loveable pair like to take their handlers on walks through the park, generally causing mayhem everywhere they go!

So cute! Anyway, back to reality – or at least our present-day reality! Take an auditory visit to Blackgang and join Professor Lucy Rogers in 'Lucy Goes Animatronic' now...

I'm sure I would run as well !!! Assuming I was still standing.
Amazing work these creators have done, I would have loved to been involved in a project such as this, thanks for posting this article Leonie.
